Our Services
  • Pre-operative Center:

All patients who will have an elective procedure are required to visit the Pre-operative Center prior to the day before surgery. Patients may visit up to seven days prior to their scheduled admission date unless blood typing /screening is required, which must be performed within three days of surgery.

The Pre-operative Center is designed to streamline the admission process, promote patient education, and improve customer satisfaction. Potential delays on the day of admission are avoided through a comprehensive pre-admission assessment conducted by a registered nurse. The developmentally age-appropriate education provided by the Center promotes an optimal hospital experience. Patients have one-stop access to laboratory, EKG, and chest X-ray examinations. The Center plays a vital role in meeting the physical, spiritual, and cultural needs of our patients.

The Pre-operative Center is located just west of the hospital in Building 685 at 685 San Bernardino Road. The Center is open Monday through Friday, from 6 am to 3:30 pm, and Sundays, from 6 am to 1 pm.

    Understanding Informed Consent

You must give your written consent for surgery to take place. Informed consent is an important patient right. You have the right to receive and understand the information you need to make decisions about your medical care. You also have the right to accept or refuse treatment. Informed consent can help ensure that you make the best decisions about your care.

Informed consent involves an understanding of the following:

    • Your diagnosis or condition
    • Why surgery is recommended
    • What will take place during surgery
    • The risks and expected benefits of surgery
    • What to expect after surgery
    • Other treatment options - including the option of not having treatment

Read all consent forms carefully before signing. Ask questions if there is anything you don't understand.

    Transportation

Make arrangements in advance for transportation home. It is important that your ride is available when you are discharged. By law, you are not permitted to drive yourself home.

    Special Needs

If you have special needs, such as hearing, sight, or speech impairment, spiritual, cultural, or other needs, please notify the Patient Services Representative at 909.920.4767 in advance so we may accommodate you.

    Medications

Do not take any medications the day of surgery unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. If you are taking heart or blood pressure medications, consult with your doctor prior to surgery. If you develop a cold, sore throat, fever, or other illness prior to your surgery, please notify your doctor before coming to the hospital.

If your physician prescribes medications for you to take when you go home, you should arrange for a family member or friend to take the prescription to a pharmacy to be filled.
